So sometimes when I try to start the motor it won't start up, even if the tank is full or empty or what level it is it has the same problem. Now your like well how do you get it started when you have this problem. What I do is I rock the car back and forth and it'll start up after that. It only happens sometimes and it's pretty random I think it depends on the incline of the hill I'm on. Anyone else have similiar problems and any idea what in esoteric audiworld it could be?

I have similar starting problems with my 91 Audi 100. Someone actually asked if i'd tried rocking it back and forth but i have never tried it.

Anyway, some days it will start, some days it will just crank and crank and never start up. Sometimes if i come back in 5 minutes, 15 minutes or 2 hours later, it magically starts. It seems ALWAYS to start right up if its been running within the last couple hours.

I have been thinking lately maybe it is related to the turbo? Turbo stopped working normal right around the time i started having starting problems. One day when it wouldn't start I noticed the turbo bar was higher than usual. I don't know if that is just because my dad had me try to start it with the pedal pushed all the way to the floor the last time i had tried to start it(which was the day before)

Hey thanks for joining,

no. Your turbo should not affect the starting of your car. The turbo's use is to get more oxygen into your engine, however for starting the oxygen available should be more than enough. The turbo only effects performance greatly when driving a bit faster.

I saw something similar around 2 weeks ago at a friend's house with an audi 100. A man tried to start it but it just didn't. He tried 5-10 minutes to make it work. I asked him what the problem was and he told me that it was a problem with his gear shift.

Are you driving a diesel or gasoline car? If it's a gasoline car, have you tried cleaning your spark plug? There might be dirt on it preventing the engine from starting.

Let me know if it helps.

Oh, if you like, you can post a picture of your car in your album here: http://www.go-audi.com/album.php
