Back in early November, we ran a story about the next-gen S4 being supercharged. Since then further details have surfaced like a definite yes on the 3.0T FSI moniker on a supercharged V6 destined for the new S4 with about 333 hp and roughly 290hp when the engine also makes it to the
A6, maybe the
Q5 and also the
Q7 after the latter SUV's facelift to replace the 3.6 we've more recently heard. Anyway, today Car & Driver's run additional news on the next-gen S4 confirming basically the same thing.
The C&D piece did include a few more details and claims....
- The B8
A4 is about 10% lighter than the equivalent B7, but expected weight of new car is expected to be 20-100 lbs lighter than old car due to added kit.
- quattro GmbH didn't develop the new S4 (they haven't developed previous S4's either)
- torque vectoring differential will be on S4 and is sourced from Magna
- L.A. Auto Show Debut (we hear Paris)
- More details on engine to come in next few days (not sure why, unless facelifted
A6 is revealed).
The article also includes a rear-upward angle photoshopped cutaway of the next-gen S4.
