Default cold

the thermostat reads a little under the first line abve Cold, and the heater blows out warmish cold air. The colant is a little brown i think due to the water wetter i added from red line to my regular g12, which i think is what is causing it. I changed the coolant temp switch which gave me cel's. to still have the cool engine prolbem. Im thinking to do a flush, and refil, i just want to know if a cold running, cold air motor could be a head gasket. and if not where is the thermostat, and quick directions on a coolant flush and tools i may need.
