Default Headlight Module

I am a brand new owner of a 2002 A4 3.0L V6, and this is my first post. I love it but whenever I turn on the car a little headlight with a X over it displays in the in dash console. I talked to my mechanic about it and he said the car was giving an error of a broken headlight module. Is this user replaceable? If so where do I begin.

Thanks for the help

Ben

I have a 2002 A4. It has a stock head unit with a bose system. Ever since I bought the car I have had horrible radio reception. When I am in the city I pick up everything but out in the hill I don't get a thing.

Does anyone know why this is or how to fix the problem.

Don't know if it's the same on all a4's but the cab aerial is requires an amplifier - when I swapped out the head unit on my car I had rubbish reception until the installer "remembered" about the requirement to put an amplifier in.

I seem to remember someone saying that all vw and audi's needed an amp when you replace the head - but I might be wrong.

The aerial run through the loom into the boot... this normally breaks over time due to the opening and closing of the boot lid..

Check that out first.

For those of us on this side of the pond, is the "boot" the trunk? Can you describe where this wire tends to break?
