lots of questions on a4

okay i am new to the forum, and i realy like the way the audi looks!
i want to buy one but i want to research first!

here are my questions:
1. i am looking in to these year audi i wanted to know what is better the 1.8 turbo or 2.8? faster? for comfy? are there any difrences between the two besides engine power?
2. are they both (1.8,2.8) awd?

4.in alot of cars i know of an auto is noticably slower/weaker than a manual, i see that these autos have tiptronics so is the auto weaker than the manual?

5.what do both they run in the 1/4 mile stock(1.8t, 2.8)? whats hp in both?

8.i read on here while i was waiting for the confirmation to be mailed to me that somone said if you want to "tune" get the 1.8, why is that?
what should i look for when buying a a4, i will most likly get a 1999 a4

sory for all the question but im realyu interested.
i mainly want a car like this for the nice confy ride and the luxery i already got my fast car. i realy doubt that the a4 6 or 8 is faster than my camaro..
