S3 Being Considered for USA
We've heard an S3 Sportback has been confirmed for Europe, which could lead the way for an American S3 from what we've heard in the past. Though the up-until-now 3-door only S3 wasn't fit for US sale, the 5-door most certainly is. Also, the car's 2.0T engine is now open game for US sale thanks to the federalization of the TTS.
Even still, we'd heard that internally there is some debate on the merit of bringing the car. Though its got its supporters, it also has its detractors. We raised the question yesterday in a roundtable with Audi AG boss Rupert Stadler and Audi of America marketing chief Scott Keogh. Both executives said the car is still being considered. So what does this mean? Though some sources have told us the S3 is out of play, Stadler's and Keogh's responses make us more positive. If you would seriously consider buying the car, let Audi know that it needs to come.
