Flame On: Newb Question

Was looking at the haldex vs torsen questions up on here and the blue vs orange vs stock controllers for the former. My impression is that the blue vs stock controllers change under what conditions the upt to 50/50 split can be made under for sending power rearward. My reading then is that with either the stock or blue controller, under normal conditions, ie non slip there is no power being sent to the rear wheels, that the awd is in efffect on demand and not full time? Thanks (puts on asbestos suit)
