In a piece focused on
R8 V10 Turbo news today, Autocar magazine from the UK mentioned that the TTRS moniker won't adorn the upcoming 350-ish horsepower 5-cylinder highest performance variant. Seems ever-increasing Volkswagen Group shareholder Porsche is laying claim to the initials "RS" as suffix to the name. Seems TTRS is a little too close to GT3 RS and the like.
Well it's probably no surprise the RS terminology is similar. Porsche helped Audi develop the RS2... the original RS car.
Stuttgart no longer develops engines for Audi RS models, and the word from Porsche is prefix only... RS4, RS6, etc. are fine, but TTRS won't cut it. The fix? We're told the 5-cylinder TT will be known as TTR.
