| | Audi Named Official Car of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am AUBURN HILLS, Mich. and MONTEREY, Calif. - Audi of America today announced that it has been named the official automobile of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am golf tournament. As part of this three-year sponsorship agreement, 180 competitors will have access to a complimentary Audi A6 for use during the annual tournament. Audi is bringing a new level of luxury to one of the world’s most prestigious and charitable golf tournaments as the first new car sponsor in nearly 50 years. The 72-hole PGA Tour golf championship dates back to the 1930’s and partners top Tour professionals with Hollywood celebrities, world renowned musicians and the captains of industry as they compete for a $6 million purse. “Golf remains one of the most compelling platforms to reach luxury consumers,” said Jeff Kuhlman, Chief Communications Officer, Audi of America, Inc. “And within the category, this tournament is one of the most prestigious venues. Players and consumers alike will find that the Audi’s are right at home in this beautiful coastal setting.” To date, over $66 million has been raised and distributed through the Monterey Peninsula Foundation, which organizes and hosts the tournament. Hundreds of non-profit organizations benefit from the proceeds of this tournament. In addition to a host of Tour professionals, celebrities scheduled to participate include Harris Barton, Chris Berman, Michael Bolton, Don Cheadle, Kevin Costner, Carson Daly, Tom Dreesen, Glenn Frey, Kenny G, Danny Gans, Andy Garcia, Bob Griese, Thomas Hampson, Kevin James, Joe Kernen, Huey Lewis, George Lopez, Dan Marino, Craig T. Nelson, Chris O’Donnell, Stone Phillips, Ray Romano, Darius Rucker, Kelly Slater, Emmitt Smith, Lynn Swann and Clay Walker. "We are honored to have Audi as the Official Car of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am golf tournament, said Steve Worthy, EVP and Tournament Director of the Monterey Peninsula Foundation. This prestigious tournament benefits hundreds of charitable organizations and we are thrilled that Audi has brought its luxury brand recognition to partner for that cause.” Hertz, the official rental car company of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, will supply 180 brand new Audis to tournament players during the weekend to showcase the Hertz “Prestige Collection.” Several Audi A6s will also be on-site during the tournament to give visitors an up-close look at the automobiles. Players will pick up the Audis at Hertz locations at San Francisco International Airport, San Jose International Airport and Monterey Peninsula Airport. Hertz is the official rental car of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. Audi’s three-year sponsorship agreement of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am is preceded by a record year for sales in the United States. The automaker sold 93,506 vehicles in the US in 2007, a 3.8% increase over the previous year. Source: Welcome to AudiWorld.com - The Audi Enthusiast Website
