Hi folks Newbie here,
Just put my 02
A4 TDI130 in for service this morning, it's on the longlife schedule and was given the following information regarding prices. Which I would add I'm not quearying although the cambelt cost is extortionate but was aware of this in advance.
Service £290.
Cambelt £590.
Replace rear brake pads £125.
Replace rear roll bar sleeves or joints £225
Brake Fluid change £95
Total £1325
Got back to the office and called same garage to check on a set of rear brake pads, £30.05 inclusinve VAT. Therefore hourly rate for pads is around £31.66 and they want 3 hours. My question is. Is this reasonable for a set of rears?? I have over the years become lazy and am not a bad spannerman having spent may years rallying and Rally Xing cars of all ages but as I find now I prefer to pay someone else most of the time or let the lease company pay for it and then give it back at end of lease.
I bought this car 3 years ago when made redundant and I have absoutely no complaints with it. Fantastic machine..!!
One other question does anyone think £95 to replace the brake fluid is value for money? Considering that all they do is suck it out and refill it? Or do they actually rebleed and pressurise the system nowadays with all there gizmos.
Any responses welcomed and do please fogive my impudence for not introducing myself before questioning the ranks for their well sought advice.
Many thanks and regards to all
Archie
