Default debadging an 01??

well, ive had my car for a while now, still looks stock outside, added a few small stickers on the windows here and there, and today i came out of work- looked at my car- and realized something: im 34!!!! my days of boy-racer homie-mobiles are OVER.

with that being said, its time to go in the opposite direction- step one will be removing all stickers on the windows this weekend. step 2 is to black out my rings on the front grill and remove the "quattro" logo from the same.
step 3 is kinda tricky- because it involves getting the 4 rings, the TT logo, and the quattro plate off the back end. i own an 01 in lake silver and it has NOT been garaged all its life- therefore i am worried that at this point due to prolonged sun exposure if i take the badges off the back there is going to be a "ghost effect" where the paint under the badges doesnt quite match the rest of the car....
so my question to all of you is- have any of you who own an "old" TT been sucessful with removing the badges without some serious paintwork being involved?? thanks in advance as always for your wisdom and advice
