Hello Orchid welcome to Audi Forum,

As you are aware the P1296 indicates a Malfunction In The Cooling System.

The two things that will set this code is a defective Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor or the thermostat. Please do get both of these checked by your Audi service or your local mechanic. Hope you get it fixed soon.
