Default Audi Q5 engine flat spot or Transmission problem

Vehicle is an o9 plate and now covered 1700 miles. On acceleration at around 1500rpm the engine dies on me. Am told that this could be a transmision fault and a software update is available and this could be the cure????
Anyone else had similar problem please?
Regardsless it's a dangerous vehicle in this state and does it hot or cold but is intermittant.
Must say the transmission is not all that it is bumped up to be - not smooth in lower gears and as have said before it's a bettre car in sports mode.
Some people I see are saying the s tronic is not up to the job any comments on this as well.

Hello Pokerdot,

As discussed in this thread Audi Q5 transmission defective, the transmission in the Q5'S are prone to be defective. I'd suggest you to take your Q5 to your Dealer and get it checked right away, and check whether the Transmission S/W update fixes the issue for you. Hope you get it fixed soon.

Regards

Are you saying that there is a genuine defect that is known on the s tronic Q5 transmission and if this is the case then Audi needs to do a recall which is implied in the thread you mentioned. I have beenin touch with my dealer and they say there are no known problems. If this is the case that s tronic in Q5 is a problem then surely this will be the case with other models fitted with s tronic. Any comments appreciated

Hey Pokerdot, it is not that all Q5's have the Transmission issue. Many users owning Q5 have reported the same issue with their transmission, so i recommended you to get your Q5 checked by your dealer just to make sure that your transmission is not in that list. So did you have the Software update for your transmission? Please do keep us updated regarding this issue.

I doubt that ALL Q5s will or are experiencing a transmission problem so early in their life I note from this site that one guy is to have a new transmission after only 40 miles. But sorry to say there is something wrong here and Audi need to get to grips with it or their reputation will suffer and I say again what about other models that have the same box?? I purchased Audi after loosing all faith in BMW I hope that this is not the case here but must say the new A3 we have now had for a year is good so far.

My Q5 has a jerking issue when coming to a complete stop between 5-0 miles. Does anyone else have this problem? Any recommendations?

Hi there, Welcome to Audi Forum. Jerking/kicking between gears can be caused due to many reasons it may be even due to a Faulty Gearbox , these kind of issues are to be checked periodically. So i request you to rush to the nearest Audi service station.

Moreover some(not all) Q5's transmission is been faulty and AUDI people are working to find a solution soon.

Regards,
DILEEP

Jerking at any point isn't a normal phenomenon and should be looked into asap, I'd suggest you to take your Q5 to your Dealer and get it checked right away so that any further complications can be avoided

Best Regards
