Angry Audi Q5 Daytime Running Lights problem

My Q5 is 3 months old (already 7,000 miles). Last month, my dash showed a warning light indicating the driver's side running lights were out. My dealer indicated a service advisory had just been published, the fix being the entire module needed replacement. Which was not in stock and took about a week to come in. A couple days ago, the passenger side running lights went out, and now another module is on order. Does anyone know about this or had similar problems? I hate to think that the Q5 (or mine in particular) has electronic gremlins; every car I've had that showed electronic issues early on proved to be a continuing, disastrous experience. Thanks

Hello js welcome to Audi forum,

You are not alone with this problem. The DRL failure in the Q5's are becoming a very common issue with the Q5's, I have already come across many users experiencing failures with the DRL's in their Q5's, I hope Audi is aware of this issue and will get it rectified as soon as possible. Hope you get your's fixed soon.

Thanks. My service advisor indicated he notified the regional guy, so maybe Audi knows or will know. Doesn't help all the owners driving around with defective modules. Apparently, this is not an item that is commonly stocked.

Hmmm, funny you should report this. I saw a new A5 with the same problem last week and it is popping up on an A4 forum. i may wait to see the new Bimmer 5 series at the auto show in January to see if it is worth waitiing for the summer release of that car. Audi fit, finish and looks are remarkable and if they got their act together re: these gremlins they could own the foreign luxury car market.

Thumbs down Third time's not a charm

It's now # 3 DRL that has gone out. First time on the driver's side, next the passenger side, now the replacement on the driver's side. Can it be that these modules are all defective or is there something in the car itself that keeps shorting them out? I'll see what the service rep says Monday but I'm thinking at this point it must be the car. Not what I was expecting in the first six months of ownership.

    Default same issue

I had exactly the same problem - at 10,000 kms - driver side daytime running lights conked out. At 21,000 kms. passenger side daytime running lights conked out. Thought I was alone, apparently not still love my Q5 but it's annoying!

    Default DRL update

My dealer replaced the defective DRL as well as the other side as a preventive measure, seeing as this was my third trip in. They advised that Audi has redesigned the module, so if anyone goes in for a replacement, insist on getting the newer version.

Hi, I have a similar problem with led diodes. When I switch xenon lights on, led diodes on passenger side sometimes blink. Is mine DRL defective? Thx in forward.

    Default Having same issue

Drivers side DTRL out. Taking it to dealer today whom I'm frustrated with already. They are not on top of things with the car. I get more information here and from Audi than I do from them. I have actually brought reports and information TO them. Thanks for the information here and your posts, it has been invaluable
