Default Audi A4 Airbags light Question

I went to get my state inspection today completely unaware of VA laws on airbags. Luckily I asked about the light before I handed them the keys and they said VA law states that your airbag has to be in working order so the light can't be on. He also said shops won't touch airbags due to liability so I'd have to go to the dealership $$$$!! I honestly don't care if my airbag works, I drive a motorcycle as a daily driver so the shell of a car alone is amazing protection . Anyone have any ideas of a cheap fix or a way of turning the light off? I don't plan on ever selling the car, but if I did I would reverse whatever it was that I did.

Hello bardwellauren,

Easiest method would be You can turn it off with a VAG-COM, if you have access to one.

I don't have access to one, in fact I don't know what that is. Will it be like a check engine light (reset it, but if the problem is still there it will just turn back on after a few miles?) Where can I get a hold of a VAG-COM? Thanks a lot for helping me out, I really appreciate it!

Hi bardwelllauren,

Am sure this website will help you out Ross Tech. Kindly go through DTC also.
