Default Audi Q5 performance?

Hi,
I have a 2.0l tfsi s-tronic audi q5 which has 3000km on it. Recently I did a drag race with a vw 1.4 golf tsi GT (170hp) manual gearbox and was dissapointed to found out that he was ahead of me for a 2 car distance all the way steadily increasing its gap. It sounds bad when audi claims a 0-62mph sprint in 7.2sec and the golf 7.9sec. In any case we also did a 40-100 mph run and he was also ahead. Actually I am quite dissapointed with the s-tronic gearbox cause even when placed at S or M I feel the shifting especially at the limit taking some time. The only hope is that the engine is not yet there and needs some more miles ( I strongly doubt it when nowadays all parts are CNCed). NOt quite what expected . I have to admit that the vw tsi engine is quite strong!

Has anyone upgrated his tfsi engine yet? Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Have you chipped the car? I had MTM chipped my Q5 (~270hp) the day when I bought it. The performance is quite good right now. I am actually thinking about to upgrade the turbo kits to K04 next year. I did that on my TT MK II.

Q5 is like >300Kg heavy than the Golf.

Do you have a lot of options on? The get the test results from a standard car so it weights the less. Options can add over 100kg easily.

Hello welcome to Audi forum,

It would be unfair to compare the Q5 with the VW golf as RFID pointed out that the Q5 is much heavier than the golf. But if you still want to enhance the performance of your Q5, you can get a number of performance upgrades from tuners like ABT, Have a look Audi Q5 Tuning

No actually my options are really basic , leather eats, xenon lights and small gadgets like hold assist etc.. So i dont think this is the reason . Even so I don't say that the golf GT should be slower, I know the fact that the q5 is more than 300kg heavier. But still its a 2.0 tfsi engine with shitloads more of torque than the GT's 1.4 tsi. And say ok it is slower why do they claim 7.2s if this is not the case at all? I mean I 've also read a road review on a really known car magazine which measured Q5's 0-62 mph to be 8.5sec, quite a big difference! You might say yeah ok 7.2 sec comes under ideal test conditions but slouldn't the golf's 7.9 sec come under ideal conditions?

Are u happy with your mtm (270hp) re-mapping because that is the one I was thinking on putting?? Does it make any changes on the turbo's wastegate or is it just a re-programming of ECU?

Hello,

I Think ABT have a relationship with Audi in Germany, but I don't believe it goes any wider.

Unfortunately, in most countries apart from Germany, you will loose your warranty During ordinary check in dealer's, the car's computer connects via internet directly to a database in Ingolstadt and checks all parameters.

Yes, It is quite Unfortunate as Martin stated, You will have to compromise on your Warranty if at all you opt for the ABT tuning. Btw. which country are you from?

Hello

Im from guayaquil ecuador South America and I made tris sunday a race with a nissan 350z unfurtunatelly and not by too much because the Q5 hs seven gears he won me.
Im not dissapointed at all because i can go further with my car, I took two weeks ago my car into the sand in the beach and with real deep sand i had no problem, of course i took off th asp
So with the type of car the Q5 is can still make sportiers cars be in truble racing me jejeje
BUT! It will be great to in crease the power with the ABT,
Does this really work?
Has someone had test italready ?
Would it in crease in a good way the initial speed?

Thanks
