Audi A4 suspension knocks
Hi,
never used this before but hopefully someone can offer some advise or may know what this is. i have a 2004 A4 3.0se Quattro with 60k on the clock. about 6 months ago i started getting a slight creaking and sometimes knocking noise when breaking hard. the noise happened just as the car was about to stop. its been back to audi 3 times, they replaced the lower bent suspension arms ( cost me £200 and cured nothing ! ) its passed its MOT, nothing found. but know 6 months on the noise can be very loud. if i drive at about 10mph and break hard i get a tremendious bang as the car stops, when i then accelarate away i get another bang. it does not do it every time though
any ideas ?
thanks
KR

Hello KR Welcome to Audi forum,
A knocking noise under braking is very unusual. And it may be something severe. It may be caused due to a number of reasons like brake pads rusting to the rotors or due to the Anti roll bar bushes wearing out etc. But it is hard for anyone to say the cause of the problem without physically inspecting the vehicle. It is a shame that the Audi service were unable to diagnose the cause of this problem and fix it for you. I'd suggest you to take your car to your local garage. I'm sure they can help you out from this issue. Hope you get your car fixed soon.
Regards
R.B.N.J
