So part of why I've had 3 Audi's in the last 5 years is how safe they are. It's something you never want to experience in person, but when it occurs you're happy you own it. My wife was driving with my daughter to work and daycare when a tractor trailer moved into her lane entering a rotary, which is designed with a two lane entrance. Not sure what prompted the driver to move into her lane, but my wife had a choice of sitting there and taking a rather damaging sideswipe or do her best to avoid it. She did her best by jumping up onto a sidewalk, but in turning the front, driver's side, wheel was exposed which was hit by the trailer's rear set of tires. Naturally you think the worst when you hear tractor trailer, car and accident, but all that fortunately was visibly damaged was the tie-rod (still waiting for collision center report on total damage), which snapped in two plus a mirror housing scratch. I forgot to grab the camera to take pictures, but everyone is safe with only some emotional scaring. I'm sure the damage would have been different if we still had our
A3, but regardless the
Q7 took a decent impact and moved fast enough to avoid more serious damage. To me it says something.Just something to think about if you're considering buying one.
